As a long-term lover of Marmite, imagine my surprise and gratification when I tried to open a jar recently (to make Marmite and Stilton on toast) only to find that it was exceedingly hard to twist off the lid because the jar had been over-filled and the excess Marmite had glued the lid on tightly.
I’ve been opening jars of Marmite for at least 35 years now, and I’ve never seen this before, in any sized jar. Luckily a friend was on hand to grab her camera and record the momentous event. Needless to say, the slight inconvenience of having to use a little extra force to open the jar was far outweighed by the wonderful experience of getting more Marmite than I’d paid for!
